Hunt for more Medals for Team Jamaica





The Day after Usian Bolt won his first Gold Medal of what should be a tally of three Gold Medals for a 3rd straight Olympics, other Jamaican Athletes look to build on the medal count for Team Jamaica. In the morning session the 200m Women’s Round 1 kicked off with 2 of three competitors moving on to the Semi-Finals with Elaine Thompson and Simone Facey both placing 2nd to automatic qualify. Veronica Campbell-Brown was the one who failed to move on to the next round. Team Jamaica on Day 3 had a participant in the Men’s Triple Jump in Clive Pullen who did not move on to the next round with his only legal jump of 16.08.



Jamaica qualified all 3 men in the 400m Hurdles with Annsert Whyte winning his heat in the fastest time of all the heats in a time of 48.37. Roxroy Cato qualified with a time of 48.56 while the young World Juniors Champion qualified with a time of 49.24 in 18th position. This is a good experience for the 19 year old two time Juniors Champion. In the mid evening session is Yona Knight-Wisom on the 3m Spring Board.



In the evening session of day 3 is the Men’s 110 hurdles with Omar McLeod Deuce Carter and Andrew Riley in heats 1-3 respectively. The Women’s 400m Hurdles also kicks off with Ristannia Tracey Janieve Russell and Leah Nugent in heats 1-3 respectively.




The medal race of the closing of Day 3 will see the 400m Women’s Finals which features Jamaican Athlete’s Shericka Jackson and Stephenie Ann McPherson going up against American Allyson Felix and Natasha Hastings for the gold medals.
