Team Jamaica Wins Gold Elaine Thompson
In the evening sessions of Day 2 Jamaica struck their first Gold Medal in the Women’s 100m Finals, with Elaine Thompson winning her first Gold Medal at the Olympic Games in a time of 10.71. Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce won the Bronze Medal in 10.86 her seasons best. Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce could be seen hurting from the Semi-Final round but still went out there and brought home a medal, great respects for the fight and determination to bring home a medal. But it was Elaine Thompson’s night winning the Gold Medal comfortably. The other competitor in the race Christania Williams managed to placed 8th. The semi finals was ran with 2 hours prior to the finals where Christania Williams produced her personal best of 10.96, while Elaine Thompson made 10.88 look easy in the semi finals.
In the other events of the evening session of Day 2 we saw Javon Francis and Rusheen McDonald failed to qualify for the finals in the mens 400m finals. While Damar Forbes finished last in the standings with his best jump of 7.82 in the long jump discipline
Day 3 of track and field will be a quiet morning session but the world will be waiting for the evening session for the Men’s 100m Finals, which features the Legendary Usain Bolt. The Semi finals will begin at 8pm Eastern Time 7pm Jamaica Time and the finals will be just one hour and 25 minutes later, slated for 9:25 Eastern time, 8:25 Jamacian time. Nickel Ashmeade will run in semi-finals 1, while Usain Bolt in Semi-Finals 2 and Yohan Blake in Semi-Finals 3.
Jamaican Women will also take the track at 7:35pm Eastern time 6:35pm Jamaican Time in the Semi-Finals of the 400m. We have Stephenie Ann McPherson, Shericka Jackson and Christine Day competing in the 3 Semi-Finals respectively.
