Yohan Blake Delivers His Best 100m Performance in 10 Years

Oblique Seville Finished Second With a Time of 9.88secs
Yohan Blake turned back the clock to produce his best 100m performance in 10 years. He won his fifth Jamaican 100m title, clocking 9.86 secs, his fastest time since his career-best 9.69 in 2012.
Blake won his 100m in 9.85 seconds, his best time since 2012, when he beat Usain Bolt at the Olympic Trials, took second to Bolt at the Olympics and became the second-fastest man in history at age 22.
Blake appeared to be the successor to Bolt, if not the man to dethrone him, until hamstring injuries derailed his career starting in 2013.
In what was a battle to the finishing line, the 32-year-old outlasted his 21-year-old challenger Oblique Seville who registered a timing of 9.88secs. They were performing at the National Senior and Junior Trials at the National Stadium.
20-year-old Ackeem Blake was placed third with 9.93secs. Jelani Walker ran a personal best 10 seconds flat to finish 4th.
Olympic bronze medallist Shericka Jackson was just outside her lifetime best, winning the women’s event in 10.77 seconds to upstage Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah who finished third in 10.89 seconds, behind Kemba Nelson who clocked a personal best 10.88. Briana Williams was 4th in a personal best 10.94 seconds.
Meanwhile, world Under-20 champion Tina Clayton set a new national junior record, scorching her way to 10.96 seconds to land the under-20 girls 100m final.
