Team Jamaica on Track Day 2

Team Jamaica competed in the morning session opening up with the Women’s Triple Jump with 2 competitors, Shanieka Thomas and Kimberly Williams. Kimberly Williams advanced to the finals with a jump of 14.22 ranking her 6th going to the next round, while Shanieka Thomas best jump of 14.02 placed her just 2 places outside of qualifying. Aisha Praught qualified 14th in the Women’s 3000 meters Steeplechase, finals on Monday. In the Women’s 400 meters all 3 Women in Stephenie Ann McPherson, Shericka Jackson and Christine Day won their heats to qualify for the Semi-Finals on Sunday.

The highly anticipated World Record holder Usain Bolt took the track in the morning session on the 100 meters round 1 in heat 7 in a time 10.07, while Justin Gatlin posted 10.01 in his heat. Yohan Blake won his heat while Nickel Ashmeade came in 2nd to also qualify for the semi finals on Sunday’s evening session.
The evening sessions of Day 2 will kick off with the Semi-Finals of the Men’s 400 meters. Javon “Donkey Man” Francis will run in the first semi-finals while Rusheen McDonald will run in semi-finals 2. In Men’s Long Jump we have Damar Forbes representing for Team Jamaica. The Semi-Finals and Finals of the Women’s 100 meters in on the cards for the closing of Day 2, hours apart. Olympic Champion Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce will continue the defense of her title in semi-finals 2, Christania Williams in semi-finals 1 and Elaine Thompson rounds up Semi-finals 3. In just a mere one and half the winners will take part in the finals of the 100 meters Women’s to close the night.
