Humble Lion, Dunbeholden Coaches Positive About 0-0 Draw

On Sunday October 23rd, Humble Lion met Dunbeholden at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex for their first match of the Jamaica Premier League (JPL). The match ended with a 0-0 draw but both teams’ coaches gave positive remarks about the result.
Humble Lion’s coach, Andrew Price, believed that his team was in control of the game but stated that they could have secured 3 points if they were more dangerous in front of goal.
The first half of the game was quite challenging whereby Dunbeholden fought to execute their attacks against Humble Lion who were finding it hard to keep up. Humble Lion’s Andre Lion got the high-quality actual opportunity from a 12-yard distance. He later got another chance after a few moments whereby he steered the ball far off the goal post.
Dunbeholden’s best opportunity during the first half went to DeAndre Thomas but he decided to control the ball instead of striking it towards the goal which would have been more successful.
Humble Lion dominated the first minutes of the second half but two good opportunities fell to Dunbeholden’s Thomas whose attempts were saved by goalkeeper Damion Hyatt on both instances.
With uncontrolled rain during the second half, Humble Lion took advantage of the situation and created several openings which they did not convert. Kemar Mullings got the best opportunity in the last minute but failed to get the ball past Hyatt.
Jermaine Brown, Dunbeholden’s coach, commented that his team’s performance was plucky but they will have improved by the next game.
In other results, Waterhouse beat Molynes 2-1; Vere United and Tivoli Gardens ended with a 1-1 draw; Portmore and Montego Bay ended in a 1-1 draw and Mount Pleasant thrashed Faukland 2-1.
