He believes that the JFF can play a major role in providing alternative activities to the youth

The Jamaica Football Federation’s (JFF) president, Michael Ricketts, stated that the federation is capable of steering the Jamaican youth from crime.
The government has already acted on censoring media content that is perceived to glorify the ‘gangster’ lifestyle that tends to influence the youth to a life of crime. Further meetings are being held to identify other causes of violence and crime.
Ricketts believes that football might aid in bringing the change that is required. He believes that the JFF can play a major role in providing alternative activities to the youth. He said that this will start being implemented in January next year.
Ricketts further stated that this project will eventually make a social impact through economic empowerment. Local players will have enough money to support their Jamaican relatives and societies while earning huge amounts of income.
Ricketts also feels that former national players will come in handy in this project. For instance, Ricardo Fuller who is former Reggae Boy told media sources that he enjoys guiding young players and he is looking forward to work with the JFF to grow the sport in his country. Fuller is currently back at his former club Stoke City where he is working to get his coaching documents.
