FIFA Rankings CONCACAF September 2021

The recent results that the Reggae Boyz has produced has been reflected in the current Coca-Cola FIFA Rankings for September 2021. In the FIFA rankings Jamaica has dropped a significant 9 places from 50th place to 59th place in the world, and now are number 5 in the CONCACAF region, with Mexico being number 1, followed by USA, Costa Rica and Canada respectively. The Reggae Boyz has been in the top 50 since 2019, where they went to as highest as 45th place, just May of this year 2021 prior to the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament. The Reggae Boyz didn’t perform to expectations in the recent region’s tournament, and a worst start to the Road to Qatar campaign where in the first 3 matches of the qualifications, lost 2 games to Mexico and Panama respectively and a draw to Costa Rica, not doing enough to hold their position in the top 50 in the FIFA Rankings. Being out of the top 50 and further, is not encouraging for local players and other Reggae Boyz, who are trying to ply their trade in the UK, as the restrictions of not being properly place in the rankings causes players not to gain work permits. The Reggae Boyz will look to change this around in the next set of World Cup Qualifiers that are slated in October, where the Reggae Boyz will be focused to gain some points on the board for the campaign. Jamaica will play against United Stated on October 7th, in Texas, Canada on the 10th inside the National Stadium, and travel to Honduras, to conclude the 6th game of the qualifiers. Jamaica will be looking to improve from the last showing in Costa Rica and come away with some good results, on the road and definitely the home game in the OFFICE! Keep fighting REGGAE BOYZ!
