Thompson-Herah was Happy with her Performance Despite the Loss

Elaine Thompson, the Jamaican five-time Olympic gold medalist has accepted her recent loss with a smile. Thompson has shown graceful in defeat after losing to Ewa Swoboda in Poland.

The two athletes were competing in the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold series ORLEN Copernicus Cup. Thompson finished as the second-best athlete after home girl Swoboda. The Polish athlete finished in an impressive time of 7.03 seconds.

Thompson said that she was honored to test herself against Swoboda, because she has been shining in indoor races. Thompson said that Swoboda will start as a favorite when they face off in next month’s World Indoor Championships.

Swodoba finished with a time of 7.03 in comparison to Thompson-Herah’s 7.04 seconds. The third finisher was Pia Skrzyszowska with a time of 7.14 seconds.

Ewa Swoboda said that she still can’t believe that she had competed and won against Thompson Herah, who is regarded as the best female athlete of her time.

The two athletes treated the animated crowd to an incredibly close race. Swoboda started with a blistering explosion and within a couple of seconds she had created distance between herself and her competitors. Swoboda has made a name for herself by exploding off the block. Thompson-Herah showed her experience by closing the gap between herself and Swoboda. Thompson-herah narrowly ran out of track while fighting to get back in the race. This gave Swoboda an advantage and the race ended in Swoboda winning with just 0.01 seconds.

The world indoor championship is the next event where these athletes can compete again. Swoboda has committed to participate in this event but Thompson-Herah hasn’t confirmed if she will participate.
