Aston Villa Expected to Sell Leon Bailey For £30m

The Jamaican would prefer to remain at Aston Villa. However, he will be forced to leave if coach Emery removes him from his future plans

Aston Villa is expected to sell Leon Bailey in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Jamaican has played for the English club for the last four years.

In 2021, the club signed Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen for £25million.

The attacker has registered more than 140 appearances for Villa. Unfortunately, his influence in the team has decreased in the current season. He has had a poor return of goals and assists. He has registered 2 goals and 4 assists in 36 appearances.

Additionally, he has been in the Premier League starting lineup just 14 times this season. It is for this reason that he is likely to leave the club.

Aston Villa is expected to demand a £30million transfer fee from any club that is interested in the player. This is according to ex-Villa scout Bryan King.

It’s looking extremely likely that the Jamaican will seek a new challenge in the summer. Several clubs have begun enquiring about the availability of the winger.

Coach Unai Emery has denied Bailey a lot of game time this season. He was dropped from the squad when Villa destroyed Newcastle United in a 4-1 win. The two team were playing in the Premier League.

The Jamaican would prefer to remain at Aston Villa. However, he will be forced to leave if Emery removes him from his future plans.

King believes that Bailey can’t stay in a team that has little use for him.

“He is an international player who will always be on demand. He is one of the main players in the Jamaican national team” King said.

“He was one of the key players when Villa qualified for the Champions League last season. He has had many impressive performances in a Villa jersey. Villa will be tempted to sell if they receive a £30m bid.

“He will also not be happy with his game time.  I’m sure Villa promised him that he would play when they signed him.”

He is facing stiff competition from the likes of arrival of Donyell Malen and Marcus Rashford.

Bailey should leave because it seems that he is being edged out.
