Simpson Claims That Nothing Has Changed in Greenwood Situation

According to Simpson, FIFA still requires his parents to provide a document that will allow him to get a passport

Roy Simpson; the Reggae Boyz team manager, has claimed that there are no new developments in the Mason Greenwood situation.

He shut down rumors that claimed that FIFA had approved documents that would allow him to switch his nationality. The Marseille striker is hoping to switch from England to Jamaica.

The 23-year-old was removed from the England national team because of domestic violence accusations. However, this case was dismissed.

Greenwood can play for the Reggae Boyz because his father has Jamaican roots. According to Simpson, FIFA still requires his parents to provide a document that will allow him to get a passport.

“Nothing has changed. But Greenwood’s family has asked us not to reveal the details,” he insisted.

Greenwood is a talented player. It’s therefore not surprising that Jamaica fans have been excited about the idea of having him in their national team.

UNDENIABLE TALENT

Greenwood; who has played for Getafe and Manchester United in the past, is one of the best players in the French Ligue 1. He has registered 18 goals and is currently the second-best goal-scorer in that league. He also boast of three assists.

The Reggae Boyz are expected to compete in the 2025 Gold Cup and the World Cup qualifiers. The Jamaican squad would be boosted with the addition of Greenwood. This would send a message that Jamaica is ready to become a regional giant.

For Greenwood, playing for the Reggae Boyz would allow him to revive his international career. He can now dream of qualifying for the World Cup with Jamaica. He can redeem himself while wearing Jamaican colors.
