Formula racing is a motor sport that can involve various forms of open-wheel, single-seater vehicles. The origin of this sport is found in the nomenclature that was later adopted by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) for all its post-World War II single-seater formulas. The best known modality of this sport is Formula One, Two and Three. The Formula 3 and GP2 categories of this sport are defined as feeding formulas.

There are basically two main forms of formula racing, one is open formula which allows you to choose the chassis or engines and formula control which relies on a single supplier for engines and chassis. Formula races are further divided into 4 levels where each driver competes after gaining experience from the first level to the next.

Indycar is another open-wheel, single-seat vehicle race that is popular in the US.
