The legendary keeper was part of the squad that participated in T&T’s World Cup qualifying campaign in 1973/1974
Devenish Paul has passed away. The retired Trinidad and Tobago goalkeeper died at the age of 76.
The legendary keeper was part of the squad that participated in his nation’s World Cup qualifying campaign in 1973/1974.
The announcement was made by the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA). The organization was full of praise for Paul. They said that he is a symbol of “great respect and admiration.”
“He will be remembered as a player who showed talent, dedication and sportsmanship. He was always full of pride when he wore the red, white and black. He was a man who had passion for the sport” TIFFA said. The association was speaking through a Facebook post.
“The man has a legacy that will live in the history books for a long time. He will be mourned by everyone who watched him play. Moreover, he will always have a special place in the hearts of the people of Trinidad and Tobago. Football has truly lost a hero.”
TTFA said that they hope that Paul’s family will find peace. They should be comforted by the fact that they will always be associated with a T&T legend.
His memorial service will take place at the Couva Revival Center located on Edgar Street, Couva.
Paul’s family is expected to cremate his body at the Belgrove Funeral Home on Coffee Street, San Fernando.
