Hudson Still Keen on Representing Jamaica

The hardships he encountered during the 2022 season together with the rewards earned have motivated him more to keep building his sprinting career.
Despite enduring a troublesome season, American-born runner Andrew Hudson revealed that he is still enthusiastic about running for Jamaica at the highest level.
The 25-year-old Hudson has Jamaican ancestry through his father who was born in Jamaica. He further disclosed that other Jamaican athletes such as Usain Bolt prompted him to continue developing himself in the sport in order be included in the nation’s rich athletic history.
Shericka Jackson is also one of the athletes that inspire Hudson. Jackson’s personal best in the 100 metres is 10.71 seconds and 20.45 seconds in the 200 metres. She also has a record of 49.47 seconds in the 200m. She has bagged many athletic awards which include various World Championships and Olympic medals such as the 100m silver and 200m gold at the Eugene Oregon World Championships that ended recently.
Hudson also pointed out that in spite having big dreams to represent Jamaica, his first year had its hardships. Regardless of securing the national 200m title, Hudson was not cleared in time to represent Jamaica in the World Championships. He was also not listed among the athletes to represent the island at the Commonwealth Games.
All the same, Hudson got his first chance to represent Jamaica at the NACAC Championships that were held in Freeport, Bahamas. He won the gold medal with a record of 19.87 seconds at the Commonwealth Games. This led to many track and field supporters perceiving that he is fit enough to represent Jamaica at more events in the future. His winning time in this event was also his personal best. He also said that the hardships he encountered during the 2022 season together with the rewards earned have motivated him more to keep building his sprinting career.
