This was the Reggae Boyz’s opening match in the World Cup qualifiers. The fans went into a frenzy when the all-important goal was scored by striker Shamar Nicholson. The fans played a major role in ensuring the Boyz left went home with all three points.
According to Ricky, a fervent Reggae Boyz fanatic, the Boyz delivered an entertaining performance and he was happy with the result. This win means that the Reggae Boyz are currently the second-placed team in Group E. The Jamaicans are in the same group as Guatemala, British Virgin Islands, Dominica and Dominican Republic.
Guatemala leads the group with six points after playing two games while the Jamaica has three points after playing one game.
Nicholas Thomas, another fan who watched the Boyz, said that the Jamaican players should be wary of Dominica. He advised the Boyz to take their opponents seriously although the Dominica team is coming from 6-0 thrashing from Guatemala. He believes that the Dominica players will be looking to redeem themselves on Sunday.
However, he believes that the Reggae Boyz are good enough to put up a bigger score-line and take all three points.
Jamaican fans have reasons to be confident because the Reggae Boyz squad has some of the most talented players. Over the last few years, Jamaica has established itself as one of the biggest teams in the Caribbean region.
