Reggae Girlz To Compete In International Friendlies Against South Africa and France

The Reggae Girlz squad is expected to compete in three friendly games ahead of the Qualifiers for the Women’s World Cup. The Jamaica Football Federation said that the squad will use this friendlies to prepare for these qualifiers that will start in 2025.
On October 25, the Jamaican national team will compete against 10-ranked France. The game will be held in a stadium that is known as Stade Auguste-Bonal. This stadium is found in eastern France and it belongs to FC Sochaux-Montbéliard. The game is expected to start at 2:05 pm Jamaica time.
The two teams last played each other in the 2023 Women’s World Cup in the Sydney Football Stadium. The Jamaicans shocked the world by pulling off a 0-0 draw to secure their first-ever point in the World Cup. The Girlz finished the tournament in the round of 16 after securing another 0-0 draw against Brazil. On the other hand, France reached the quarterfinals of the competition.
The Reggae Girlz’s second friendly will be against the 50th-ranked South Africa on November 29 and December 2. The two teams met in April 2019 in a match that ended in a 1-1 draw.
According to Michael Ricketts; the JFF president, they’re trying to ensure that the Reggae Girlz are in good form before the compete in the qualifiers. He revealed that he believes tha the players and coaches will benefit from these friendlies. the players can build-up some chemistry while the coaches can practice their tactics.
The Women’s World Cup is expected to begin in 2027. this tournament will be hosted by Brazil. The Concacaf region is expected to be presented with four automatic spots with two additional teams making it into the playoffs.
