Reggae Boyz star Michail Antonio is expected to play for a new club because WestHam is looking for a new striker.
West Ham is expected to make many changes to the playing staff after the recent appointment of coach Julen Lopetegui. The Spaniard is set to replace long-time head coach David Moyes. and signing a replacement for Michail Antonio should be one of the Spaniard’s main priorities.
The 34-year-old Antonio has had an underwhelming season having recorded 6 goals and 2 assists in the English premier league. He recently revealed that has been receiving offers from different clubs over the last few years. He said that he decided to stay loyal to WestHam because he had a special connection with the club.
It’s possible that he might finally leave the Hammers in the upcoming transfer window.
Apart from the poor performances, Antonio has also been plagued by numerous injuries in the previous seasons. In the current season, the Jamaican international picked an injury that kept him out for three months. He picked up this injury while playing for his country.
The Jamaican also struggled to maintain his status af the Hammers main striker. David Moyes preferred to start Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus in some games. This is despite the two players not being traditional strikers like Antonio.
Antonio is clearly nearing the end of his career although he has been a wonderful servant for the Hammers. He has played for the London club for the last nine years.
According to some reliable reports, the Hammers are preparing an offer to sign Braga striker Simon Banza. They’re hoping that the Primeira Liga club will accept a £21.4 million fee to sell their 27-year-old striker.
The reports claim that WestHam is ahead of other clubs who have an interest in the electric striker.
Banza will be a perfect replacement for Antonio having recorded 21 goals and 4 assists in the Portuguese league. This will be an ideal signing because the fee is quite low.
Standing at 6ft 2in, the French striker is an imposing figure who thrives when bullying opposition defenders. He also has the technical ability to hold-up the ball and score incredible difficult goals. In addition to this, the powerhouse striker possesses blistering pace. These attributes are likely to drastically improve WestHam’s attacking play.
