Jackson wins 200m title at the Diamond League in Zurich

Jackson initially took the runners-up position in the 100m race clocking a time of 10.81 seconds behind Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce
On Thursday 9th September, Jamaican athlete Shericka Jackson won the women’s 200m race at the Diamond League final held in Zurich, Switzerland. This victory comes while she is still basking in her stellar 2022 season.
Jackson initially took the runners-up position in the 100m race clocking a time of 10.81 seconds behind Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. This time round in the 200m, she managed to win with 21.80 seconds and was closely followed by American Olympic bronze medal holder Gabby Thomas at 22.38 seconds. The second-runners up was Tamara Clark, also from America, at 22.42 seconds.
Jackson’s first 200m race this season, that went down on May 13th at the Doha Diamond League tournament, saw her take second place at 22.07 seconds behind Thomas who clocked 21.98 seconds. She has been unbeaten in all the nine races she has ran since then. Moreover, she was crowned fastest woman alive when she won gold at 21.45 seconds at the World Championships that were held in Eugene.
In the meantime, the men’s 200m saw Alexander Ogando of The Dominican Republic finish third at 20.02 seconds. In second place was Canadian Aaron Brown who clocked same time with Ogando while the winner was American World Champion Noah Lyles at 19.51 seconds.
