Donaldson Wants Leaders To Step Up In His Reggae Girlz Squad

Coach Donaldson has challenged his players to make a lasting impression if they want to get into his final World Cup team

Reggae Girlz coach Lorne Donaldson has said that he is hoping to see some leaders step up in his squad.
The Jamaican squad is preparing for the Cup of Nations tournament and coach Donadlson has added late additions into the squad. Coach Donaldson has challenged his players to make a lasting impression if they want to get into his final World Cup team.
Khadija Shaw announced that she will be unavailable for the upcoming matches because personal reasons. Coach Donaldson will have to choose another player to lead the team in order to fill Shaw’s captaincy role. Coach Donaldson said that he wants to see huge performances particularly in midfield and defence.
Earlier, the coach had chosen Shania Hayles to replace Shaw as captain but she has been forced out of the tournament through injury.
Siobhan Wilson will also miss the tournament because of an injury. These injuries have led to the inclusion of Tiffany Cameron and Kayla McKenna. Coach Donaldson has said that he will not be depending on one leader. He is hoping to spread the leadership role among several players.
The Reggae Girlz will face off against Spain. This game will be held in Australia’s Industree Group Stadium. This will be the first time that these teams ever play against each other. Coach Donaldson is hoping to use this competition as a warm up for the Women’s World Cup. The World Cup is expected to happen in the summer in New Zealand and Australia.
Spain is one of the most talented team in the world. It boasts of having an attack full of superstars such as Barcelona’s Salma Paralluelo Real Madrid’s Esther Gonzales. They also come in in good form having won four of their last five games.
