Hallgrimsson Defends Bailey After He Received Backlash From Fans

He believes that Jamaican fans will see an improved version of Bailey if they show him love on social media

Reggae Boyz Head Coach Heimir Hallgrimsson has claimed that Leon Bailey is an important part of his plans moving into the future. Hallgrimsson was forced to defend the Aston Villa winger after he received backlash after lost against Canada on Saturday. Bailey was one of the worst performers as Jamaica lost 2-1 against Canada.
Coach Hallgrimsson’s statement comes ahead of Jamaica’s second leg clash against Canada. The two nations are clashing in a crucial Concacaf Nations League quarter-final match that will be held at the BMO Field in Toronto.
The Jamaican fans used their social media platforms to direct their h Bailey receiving dissatisfaction towards Bailey. However, Hallgrimsson believes that Bailey can deliver for the Reggae Boyz if he’s treated well. The first-leg game happened at the National Stadium
Hallgrimsson said that the criticism bailey is receiving is unfair. He described him as a high-profile player who offers creativity and gives everything on the pitch. He believes that Jamaican fans will see an improved version of Bailey if they show him love on social media.
Bailey will be available for the second-leg match against Canada. However, Michail Antonio is expected to miss this match due to an injury he picked in the first leg. However, Reggae Boyz fans can look forward to the returning Demarai Gray. The Saudi Arabia-based player has been Jamaica’s best player with five goals in nine games.
The Reggae Boyz have only won six times despite the two sides meeting 24 times. The last time these two sides met was in the 2017 Concacaf Gold Cup. The Jamaicans will be hoping the second leg although they’ve never defeated their rivals in Canada.
