Aston Villa beat Leeds United in a 2-1 thriller in the English premier league. Reggae Boy Leon Bailey opened the scoring in the third minute. This game means that Leeds United have gone 6 games without a win.
On the other hand, Villa’s new coach Unai Emery has been enjoying a great time since he was appointed as Steven Gerrard’s replacement in October. The new manager has succeeded in getting the best out of Bailey by playing him as one of his two strikers.
Bailey’s goal was created by midfielder Boubacar Kamara. Kamara started a counter-attacking move that saw him dribble past Leeds defenders. He picked out Bailey with a beautiful pass that fell into the Jamaican’s favorite left foot.
Bailey beat goalkeeper Illan Meslier by chopping inside and curling an unstoppable beauty into the top left corner.
Leon Bailey now has five goals in the current season. Impressively, four of his goals have come in the league. The English league is considered to be the most difficult one in Europe. However, Villa faded away and in fact Bailey’s effort was the team’s only shot in the first half.
Leeds fought back with vigor and even had a disallowed goal in the first half. Apart from Rodrigo’s disallowed goal, Leeds also had rejected penalty appeals. Leeds continued missing big chances and they failed to equalize moving into half time.
Aston Villa’s second goal came via Emi Buendia who pounced on a loose ball in the 64th minute. Leeds responded in the 84th minute when Patrick Bamford scored a poacher’s goal in Villa’s penalty box.
