The Reggae Boyz are slated for 3 games in the October window of the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers – Qatar 2022. After only garnering only 1 point from Costa Rica on the road, losing to Mexico in the Azteca and giving up a massive 0-3 lost to Panama in the office. Jamaica is set to go up against the number 13 rank in the World and 2nd in the CONCACAF region, in the United States on October 7th, in the state of Texas. The second game of the schedule will be against the Canadians inside the National Stadium on October 10th. Canada in the latest FIFA rankings sits 8 places above the Reggae Boyz at 51, and 4th in the region. The Boyz will conclude this window away to 63rd ranked Honduras on October 13th.
Although since the last window, some of our Reggae Boyz has been performing for their related clubs, there have also been some injury concerns for a few of the players. Since the window Daniel Johnson has scored his 50th goal for his club Preston North End, Blair Turgott has banged a hattrick for his club Östersunds FK. Leon Bailey missed the September Schedule of games with an injury, and look to miss these October games as well. Leon Bailey pickup a quad strain after he scored against Everton in the English Premier League, scoring his first goal for his new club Aston Villa, after his summer transfer from Bayer Leverkusen for a reported up to 30Million. In an interview Bailey thinks picked up the injury from “trying to hit the ball so hard”. Another injury concern is of Shamar Nicholson. Shamar “Boza” Nicholson got his jaw broken in a game for his club Charleroi. Since the injury Nicholson has done a minor surgery and in an interview promised he will be available to play for the Reggae Boyz in these October games. Boza has scored our only 2 goals so far in the Road to Qatar qualifiers. Shamar scored in Mexico and again in Costa Rica to earn the point for the Reggae Boyz. Another notable player that is nursing an injury to date is Cory Burke, but yet to know how long he will be out for. As for the English based players, the rules are being relaxed and expects all the players to be available for selection.
