Maloney secured a fourth-place finish in the 800m race at the recently concluded Paris Olympic Games
The government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has named Shafiqua Maloney as their sports ambassador. This declaration was made by Dr. Ralph Gonsalves; the Prime Minister of the Caribbean nation.
The prime minister was speaking during Independence Day celebrations. Dr. Gonsalves gave Maloney a special recognition although he also acknowledged other athletes. These athletes were recognized as symbols of national pride. Dr. Gonsalves was speaking at Victoria Park.
Maloney secured a fourth-place finish in the 800m race at the recently concluded Paris Olympic Games. Dr. Gonsalves described her as a talented athlete who represented St. Vincent and the Grenadines with distinction. The government is happy that Maloney is inspiring the next generation of athletes.
Maloney said that she is grateful to be named as a sports ambassador. She thanked the people and government for celebrating her achievements. She promised that she will continue working harder so that she can perform at a high level. She was speaking through her social media account.
The other athletes who were appointed for the same position include national footballer Oalex Anderson, coach Fitzgerald “John Hinds” King and West Indies test cricketer Jomel Warrican. The appointments have shown that the government will continue supporting the nation’s athletes.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines has been celebrating the achievements of citizens who excel in different fields. These individuals embody resilience, patriotism and excellence. This is the nation’s 45th Independence anniversary.
