Jamaica has released the names of athletes that will feature in next week’s 50th CARIFTA Games. Some of the familiar names include eight individual medalists who participated in the 2022 World Athletics Under-20 Championships. The ones who stand out the most are gold medalists Brandon Pottinger and Jaydon Hibbert.
This year’s games will take place in Nassau, Bahamas, April 7-10. The Thomas Robinson Stadium will host the games. The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) came up with a squad of 79 athletes who will compete over the Easter weekend.

Bouwahjgie Nkrumie, a national record holder in Under-20 100m, sprint hurdler Alexis James, sprinter Serena Cole and thrower Kobe Lawrence all won silver medals in the 2022 championships. On the other hand, intermediate hurdler Roshawn Clarke and Alana Reid secured bronze medals.
DeAndre Daley is among the Jamaicans that are hoping to defend the titles they won in the 2022 CARIFTA Games. DeAndre Daley beat Nkrumie in Kingston.
Delano Kennedy hopes to maintain his Under-20 400m crown, Lawrence in the Under-20 throws double, James in the Under-20 100m hurdles; Jody-Ann Mitchell in the girls’ Under-20 800m; Cedricka Williams in the discus throw, Rickiesha Simms in the 1,500m and Clarke in the 400m hurdles.
