Ricketts told journalists that they will have a board meeting over the weekend. He expects the members to come up with an election date during this meeting
FIFA has given the Jamaican Football Federation the green light to proceed with their elections. The federation is expected to announce a new election date in the net few days.
The race for the presidential seat will be between current Vice-President Raymond Anderson and incumbent Michael Ricketts. The two rivals have expressed confidence in their ability to win the election. The original date was January 14, before it was postponed by a Supreme Court injunction.
FIFA and Concacaf have been investigating the JFF’s statutes and regulations. FIFA banned the federation from conducting their election until they complete their investigation.
Some sources even suggested that FIFA was going to appoint a committee that would run Jamaica’s football. This seemed like a realistic possibility because a similar model is being used in Trinidad and Tobago.
JFF president Ricketts told journalists that the FIFA was satisfied with its findings. FIFA is a global body that governs all football affairs.
Ricketts said that the federation has done it’s due diligence. He told FIFA that JFF will respect the constitution during the election process.
