Leon Bailey’s Consistency Impresses Head Coach Unai Emery

The Jamaican player has been one of the best players in the English league

Unai Emery, the Aston Villa manager, has told journalists that he is pleased with the improvements Leon Bailey has shown this season. He praised the Jamaican winger for delivering consistent performances. However, he insisted that Bailey needs to continue working hard in order to become the complete package.
Bailey was the standout player when Aston Villa delivered a 4-2 thrashing of Nottingham Forrest. He set up Aston Villa’s opening goal that was scored by Ollie Watkins. The Jamaica international went on score the fourth goal in the dying minutes of the game.
The Jamaica international was plagued by injuries during his first two seasons in England. He has also had many inconsistent performances since he arrived from Bayer Leverkusen. However, he is enjoying his best season in an Aston Villa jersey. He has recorded an impressive eight goals and seven assists in the English premier league.
Emery said that he is pleased with how Bailey has bought to into his coaching methods. Emery praised the winger for the match-winning performances he has been delivering in home games. However, he challenged the 26-year-old to improve his performances in away games. He also said that he is working on improving Bailey’s defensive work rate.
Aston Villa’s win against Nottingham Forrest has opened a five-point cushion from fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspurs.
Emery has consistently downplayed Villa’s chances of finishing in the top four positions. This achievement means that they will earn a chance to play in Europe’s elite competition, the Champions League. However, Bailey made no secret of his team’s ambition to finish in the top four positions. Villa boast of being eight points clear of giants Manchester United who are in sixth position.
Bailey said that he and his teammates need to remain sharp in this crucial part of the season. Aston Villa has a realistic chance of qualifying for the champions league because there are only 12 games to go in the league.
