Jamaica Targets 5 Gold Medals At Caribbean Boxing Champs

The AMBC/Caribbean Boxing Championships is currently underway in Rouseau, Dominica. Jamaica’s team consisting of two women and three men is working towards winning five gold medals in the championships that end today.
Sherikee Moore won a gold medal in the Novice female category after defeating Tiffany Delice when the referee called the contest to a halt after one minute and 10 seconds of round one. Jasmine Graham also won gold by defeating Barbadian Faith Field 2 minutes 14 seconds into round one. In addition, Jaden Eccleston beat Keith Demanyoh with 3-2 points to bag the gold medal in that category.
Today is the final night of the tournament. Daniel Hyton, who secured silver by beating Barbadian Ajani Jones, is set to meet Dominican Joshua Touissant in the final. Moreover, Jerone Ennis defeated Barbadian Charles Cox to reach the finals where he is to challenge Amore Payne from Antigua and Anguilla for gold today.
Team manager, Leroy Brown, revealed that the boxers had made him really proud. He further praised coach Gilbert Vaz for the outstanding job he has done in building the boxers. He also praised the Jamaica Olympic Association for their financial support which made them able to participate in the championships. Former International Technical Official and AIBA’s Referee and Judges Commission member, Leroy Brown, was assigned the position of technical director by the Caribbean Boxing Association after the individual who had been given the role bailed out in the last minute.
