Montego Bay United Must Win on Sunday
Montego Bay United are looking to beat Humble Lion when they face them this Sunday. Humble Lion is the only team that hasn’t won a game in the Jamaica Premier League. MBU has been struggling to get wins and this is a good opportunity to secure three points. The game will be played in the Sabina Park in Kingston.
Montego Bay United recently lost Rickey Hill after he resigned from his job as the club’s Technical Director. Hill’s resignation came after his team lost to Cavalier FC at Drax Hall in St Ann. MBU’s third loss on the trot came when Portmore United beat them 1-0.
Montego Bay United currently has four points and it is currently sitting at the bottom of the points table. Humble Lions has six draws from the last four JPL games, two points above Montego Bay United.
If MBU wins on Monday then they will leap above the four clubs above them. Three points separate the bottom four clubs.
There is a similar goal record for both Humble Lion and MBU. Both teams have seven goals each, but MBU have conceded a league-worst 18 — six less than the Clarendon-based club.
MBU will be desperate to score goals on Sunday. Lodrick Haughton and Ewan Barton, who are MBU’s top two scorers were missing during the loss to Portmore United. They will be available on Sunday.
A 10th-minute goal from Earon Elliot settled Monday’s contest as MBU struggled to string passes together and, despite Portmore not presenting a threat after the opening goal, failed to create chances.
